While researching and collecting material for his International award winning Aerophilatelic exhibit, Newfoundland Airmail Stamps and Airmail Flights: 1918-1948, Peter Motson discovered some of E R Krippner’s Newfoundland artistic Patriotic “Flag & Frame” covers. He became intrigued and decided to find out more about Krippner. The result is this book, Krippner Covers North America. Krippner led a very interesting though somewhat itinerant life, details of which add to the story presented in the covers he created. BNAPS wishes to thank Peter Motson for finding and preparing the material in the study, and for the scans used in this book.Peter Motson was an aircraft model maker at the age of eight. He was also a “schoolboy stamp collector,” but his philatelic interests did not connect to aerophilately until after 1968 when he had left his first career, in the Fleet Air Arm, Royal Navy, where he served for nine years as an aircraft engineer on carrier-borne “front line” squadrons. He began collecting material for his Newfoundland Airmail Stamps and Air Mail Flights: 1918-1948 exhibit in 1970. The exhibit was first shown in 2004 and attained a Large Vermeil award in London, England. Peter continued to upgrade the exhibit for presentation at the London 2010 International Exhibition, where it received not only a Large Gold but also the Best of Class Award for Aerophilately.
