Herb McNaught was encouraged to specialize in the Half-Cent Small Queen by Richard Lamb, a well-known stamp dealer from Kitchener, Ontario. When first shown, The Half-Cent Small Queen Issue of 1882-1897 won a Gold Medal at the 1989 North York exhibition. It was then shown at numerous national exhibitions in Canada and the United States. At the international level, it received a Large Silver Medal at CAPEX ’96, and Large Vermeil Medals at Melbourne, Australia; Madrid, Spain; Copenhagen, Denmark and Seoul, Korea. With the exhibit earning a Gold Medal at BNAPEX 2002 in Spokane, Washington, and the subsequent publication of this book, Herb retired the Half-Cent Small Queen exhibit in order to concentrate on his exhibits of the 1897 Jubilee issue of Canada and the 1908 Quebec Tercentenary issue. Both of the latter exhibits have also been published as volumes in the BNAPS Exhibit Series.
