Called “The finest Canadian Postal Stationery collection ever exhibited”, it has earned numerous awards, culminating in International Gold Medals at Finlandia ’88 and Nippon’91. The four suppliers were:
1) George F. Nesbitt of New York, (1860-65), as sub-contractor to the American Bank Note Co., supplied only envelopes. 2) British American Bank Note Co. of Montreal & Ottawa, (1871-1897) were given the order to supply Postal Cards in 1871. 3) In 1897 American Bank Note Co. obtained the contract for all Postal Stationery except envelopes. 4) In 1898 the Department of Public Printing and Stationery began to provide the Canada Post Office Department with envelopes, using Master Dies provided by De La Rue of the United Kingdom.
