This exhibit shows the numerous ways in which business firms utilized the new Postal Card announced on 9 December 1897, and the changes in the format made by the Post Office Department to balance the needs of the Department for a clear space for the indicia and address, bilingualism, and the requirements of the advertisers. Numerous violations of the regulations overlooked by mail handlers are shown, as well as Special Order cards provided by the Department to accommodate the needs of the advertising postal patrons.
