1840 SFL dateline “Demerary 18th Jany 1840” (BRITISH GUIANA) to Whitby, Upper Canada, ms “via New York” but crossed out and apparently sent to England as evidenced by a Maltese cross bs (LS 27 MY 27 1840”, ms rated “1/-” and total 3 10 1/2 collect. ms notation “Received 6th August”. A letter from Johanna McKenzie writing home, missing people, settling debts, near death. A double transatlantic letter.
